Mutant planet

It has been estimated that there are between 3 and 30 million different species on Earth and this is before we take into account micro-organisms and creatures of the deep sea. The biodiversity of our planet is of great interest in our modern day world, as we try to make sense of climate change and the impact we have on the fragile ecosystems.

All over the planet there are diverse eco-regions, each with their own set of inhabitants uniquely suited to thrive in their special surroundings; tailor-made to survive against all odds. Mutant Planet transports you to these worlds within worlds where nature and evolution have combined to shape astounding animals with ingenious lifestyles and unorthodox patterns of behaviour. Follow the Discovery cameras on a journey through some of the most astounding locations to experience the lives of natures most extreme creatures.
