Vitamin D
Recent headlines point out a 400 % rise in rickets and other bone diseases as young people spend more and more time indoors. Recent UK health guidance recommends that everyone should consider taking a daily vitamin D supplement, particularly in autumn and winter. In this activity students make a personal decision about whether they need a daily vitamin D supplement, based on their diet and exposure to sunlight. They apply their knowledge of nutrition to find out about the consequences of vitamin D deficiency, and learn how to analyse patterns in data.
