Young Journalists Academy Education Pack

Although published in 2012, and therefore some of the content is out-of-date with regard to 'plans for the future', this resource is ideal for use in both English or science lessons, or off-timetable days, to raise awareness of careers in science communication and develop literacy skills using the context of biomedical science and the media.

In 2012 the Young Journalists’ Academy summer school included sessions, workshops and visits from science journalists from the BBC, The Times, Eureka and the Wellcome Trust. This teaching pack was produced to share some of the key learning from this day with schools, educators and students. The pack consists of short edited videos of some of the sessions, summaries of two workshops and an exercise for students to complete, plus top tips and concrete advice for writing and broadcasting on these issues by leading science journalists.
