Transporting Living Things
In this Triple Crossed activity, from the Centre for Science Education and supported by the Astra Zeneca Teaching Trust, students are given the task of writing the regulations for the transportation of organisms through an airport.
Considering a tiger, a jellyfish and a highland cow they are asked to consider the wellbeing of the animals. Information sheets, including a summary of the UK's Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) guidelines are provided.
The activity ends with a self-assessment sheet through which students can review how they have used the evidence and information, how well they have worked as part of a team and what were the most important considerations of the task.
The activity sheet is accompanied by a set of teachers' notes.
