Nuffield Design and Technology 11-14: Teacher's File
The Nuffield Design and Technology Teacher's File for Key Stage Three contains a large number of resource tasks which can be included in lessons. These short, focused activities are presented as instruction sheets and are intended to increase technical knowledge, skills and design strategies.
The file starts with the full Teacher's Handbook, containing full information about Nuffield Secondary Design and Technology for this Key Stage. The handbook outlines the structure and elements of the courses and provides guidance for teaching.
Resource tasks are provided for types of skill and for each of the design and technology subjects:
* Strategy
* Communcating design ideas
* Resistant materials
* Textiles
* Food
* Health and safety
* Mechanical control
* Electrical control
* Computer control
The file also includes case studies, which give examples of how design and technology is used in the world outside school, and a number of capability tasks which build on the learning experience of the resource tasks and case studies.
