GCSE subject criteria for Engineering 2007

This set of subject criteria were produced by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority for Awarding Bodies to produce subject specifications for use in 2007 GCSE Engineering. GCSE specifications had to meet these criteria in order to be accredited.

The GCSE criteria explain the general aims of studying a particular subject at GCSE and outline the essential knowledge skills and understanding required. They also stipulate the structure of GCSEs and their assessment, in that assessment objectives are included. Grade descriptors are not included here.

The subject content was specified in terms of:
*Engineering materials and their processes
*The function of components
*Engineering processes and quality controlnew technologies
*Engineered products
*The design and engineering of a product.
