Science: Changes to the Curriculum from 2006 for Key Stage Four

Produced by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority for the 2006 changes to the science national curriculum, this guide was produced to ensure that those offering science information and guidance to learners in years 9, 10 and 11 had a single document containing accurate and up-to-date information on the full range of opportunities, qualifications and support available.

This was produced specifically because of the greater freedoms in the science at Key Stage Four such that students could be able to choose programmes of study that meet their needs, capabilities and aspirations.

As well as summarising the main changes to the science national curriculum for 2006, it includes information about deciding between specifications, planning timetables, understanding the implications for teaching, and where to get training and other necessary resources. Case studies are used to illustrate some of the issues and solutions.
