Produced by the Learning Skills Improvement Service, these materials help to demonstrate effective practice. This case study, from Peterborough Regional College, looks at the theme of harnessing technology.

The project set out to determine the impact of virtual resources upon the progress of students using the college's virtual learning environment (VLE). The study was conducted with a group of 16-19 pathways learners re-taking their GCSEs. The class used was undertaking GCSE electronics but as a new subject rather than a re-take.

Students were found to perform much better in mock examinations after they were given a greater variety of resources relating to their course and future career possibilities.
