Mr man's birthday

This task requires students to find dates of birth where the square of the year (the last two digits) gives the day and the month, e.g. 26/01/51, because 512 = 2601.

Students then need to use Fermi estimates to calculate how many people might have been born on these dates. The activity sheet gives a brief statement of the problem and further questions to consider. This includes considering dates as shown in the UK as opposed to the USA.

The teachers' notes give further suggestions for extension activities.
