Blue-greens

This book serves as a comprehensive introduction to a once little known but remarkable group of micro organisms which resemble bateria and function like simple green plants. Through blue-green bacteria represent one of the most ancient forms of life on Earth and are probly responsible for such fundamental changes as the creation of an oxygen-containing atmosphere, they are still common in our present enviroment and often abundant in fresh-and-sea-waters as well as in terrestrial habitats.
