The fish problem

In this challenge students have to establish the minimum number of fish tanks needed for six fish to live in harmony, as some fish cannot be placed in the same tanks as others safely.

The four children problem

Four children make statements about their relative ages but one child is lying. The challenge is to order the children from the youngest to the oldest.

Guess my word problem

Two people are playing a guessing game. One of them thinks of a five letter word, and each time the other makes a guess they tell them the number of letters that they got correct. Can you figure out the correct word with just three guesses?

Strange symbols

Three addition calculations are shown using symbols instead of numbers. Can students arrange the symbols from smallest to largest? A second puzzle follows with four additions, including one with more than one symbol on each side of the equals sign.
