Revised Nuffield Chemistry Stage III
The revision of Stage III of Revised Nuffield Chemistry put more emphasis on applied, social and historical aspects of chemistry. This was in response to feedback from teachers that the original version of Stage III included too many academic options that overlapped with post-16 work. Three of the original options were deleted. Two were merged to create ‘Change and Decay’.
At the same time two completely new options were introduced: ‘Drugs and Medicines’ was presented in full detail while ‘Geochemistry' was only outlined in the Teachers’ Guide as a basis for further developments. In the revised Stage III the student booklets provided the full details of the programme of work. The Teachers Guide included commentaries for teachers and the technical information needed to support students in their work.
