Summary
The course is designed for upper KS1 and KS2 teachers and WAU coordinators who wish to bring the wonders of the rainforest into their classrooms. Participants will gain an understanding of the unique ecosystems, vibrant wildlife, and critical issues facing rainforests today. It will explore the human impact on these environments and how to inspire curiosity and care in young learners.
Through engaging, practical and straightforward activities, teachers will learn strategies to spark pupils’ imaginations and deepen their understanding of rainforest biodiversity, the animals that inhabit these regions, and the challenges posed by deforestation and climate change. Emphasis will be placed on creating a positive learning environment that encourages pupils to think critically about their role in protecting the planet.
By the end of the course, participants will leave equipped with tools, resources, and activities designed to foster curiosity, empathy, and environmental stewardship in their pupils.
Most of the activities and strategies which will be introduced will also fit comfortably with other WAU topics.
