Summary

Explore the vital role of talk in primary science, helping teachers use speaking and listening to deepen children’s scientific understanding. Through practical strategies, you’ll learn how to support pupils to understand and use scientific vocabulary, develop deeper reasoning and engage in meaningful discussions. You'll discover how oracy can enhance scientific investigations, using exploratory talk to develop enquiry and reasoning skills. 

By the end of the course, you’ll feel equipped to create a classroom where talk is central to scientific learning. You’ll gain techniques to encourage deeper thinking, guide children in evaluating their findings and help them communicate their ideas effectively.
