This course is designed for primary trainee teachers and sets strong foundations for pedagogical development during your Early Career Teacher (ECT) years.

What is computing? – identify the main themes of the computing curriculum, understand why computing is important and explore how resources Planning a lesson – know what’s needed to plan a lesson, understand why schools may use a scheme of work and explore the Teach Computing curriculum resourcesInformation Technology - explore a range of software used to teach information technology Programming – find out what an algorithm is, explore ideas which support progression in programming, write your own programs and understand the vocabulary used in primary programming. Digital Literacy – Understand teachers’ responsibility to keep children safe, how online safety links to digital literacy and explore teaching resources Classroom Management – understand how computing lessons can differ from other lessons and have some practical strategies to support effective teaching and learning
