Summary

This course is designed to provide science technicians, particularly those new to the role, with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to manage an efficient and effective prep room in your school. With a focus on key responsibilities, such as prep room organization, health and safety, and supporting practical classroom work in biology/chemistry/physics, participants will gain confidence in delivering high-quality support for pupils and teachers.

The course will cover time management and organisational skills as well as critical aspects of health and safety, including risk assessments, chemical storage, and adherence to policies and procedures. Additionally, it offers guidance on the effective setup of experiments including preparation techniques, sourcing and making equipment, effective practical ideas, managing requisitions and resources, and ensuring proper storage practices.
